Lakewoodopoly
The Honduras Youth Mission Team (consisting of 7 students and 2 adults) has designed a board game called “Lakewoodopoly” which looks just like Monopoly but features businesses from around our area. All proceeds go towards our upcoming trip to LaCeiba Honduras April 4th – 13th 2008. These games turned out really professional looking, and they make great Christmas presents, so get one today. You can buy one at church from any of the following students… Alexis Brodbeck, Wendy Brodbeck, Michelle Bulling, Hanna Poole, James Hawkes, Kevin Swift, or Dan Thelen. The cost is $20.
The story behind Lakewoodopoly. As we set out to fundraise for our 2008 missions trip to Honduras, I encouraged the teens to look for new and creative fundraisers, rather than the typical bake sales and carwashes. Dan Thelen, a Junior from Lake Odessa, came across YourTownOpoly online. YourTownOpoly is a way of customizing a monopoly board game for your own local town. The idea is to sell the property spaces to local businesses as advertising spots, and then use that money to offset the cost of printing the games. When the games are finished, the profit from their sale goes toward the trip. And it worked! We’ve already raised several thousand dollars to go toward the trip, and we hope to raise even more. To reserve your game, call Kilpatrick at (269)367-4534. Thanks for supporting youth missions. - Thom Thelen | Youth Pastor
